Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's achieved huge fame with the stories that she shares about her childhood heartbreak. Swift was a fan of music at an early time. She swiftly rose through the ranks, beginning with roles in children's theater before performing before a huge crowd. Swift was just 11 when she performed The Star-Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. In the following year she started writing her own songs and picked up the guitar. Swift was a singer who took ideas from Shania's music and the Dixie Chicks now known as The Chicks within the realm in country music composed her original songs to reflect her feelings of alienation. Swift's family moved in Tennessee Pennsylvania at the age of 13so she would have longer pursuing popular country music labels in Nashville.
